What is Cougar Quest?
The camp is designed to meet the educational and social needs of young college-bound students entering grades 7 through 12 in fall 2013. There are two weeks of camp, one to accommodate entering 7th through 9th graders and the second for entering 9th through 12th graders. Students entering 9th grade have the option of choosing one week, or attending both. For one exciting week high achieving students attend three rigorous workshops of their choosing. Most workshops are taught by Washington State University professors and are full of hands-on activities that are meant to challenge and keep the interest of students.
Through Cougar Quest, students truly get to choose their own route to discovery and have access to workshops such as, Lego Mindstorm Robots, Environmental Sciences, Culinary Arts, Fashion Design, and many more. Interactive activities and the use of top-of-the-line technology and techniques allow students to experience an amazing week of learning. Here, learning is a combination of fun and exploration. Cougar Quest is not only about motivating academically inclined students, however. Part of the experience of camp is to explore the WSU campus and see how rewarding college life can be. Social and recreational activities are planned throughout the week. Additionally, students live in a residence hall and eat in a dining center, making for a unique experience. After attending camp many students show an increased interest in pursuing higher education and look forward to next summer when they can continue to learn about topics not usually taught in school. Highly rewarding and exciting, Cougar Quest is the camp for students interested in being challenged, and learning while having a good time. We look forward to seeing you at WSU and sharing a memorable week with you this summer. |
